Delete your account
You can delete your BillSense account and all associated data at any time. Two ways to do it:
Option 1 — In the app (fastest)
- Open BillSense.
- Sign in to the account you want to delete.
- Go to Settings → Delete account.
- Confirm. Your account and data are deleted immediately.
Note: this is one-way. We can't restore deleted accounts.
Option 2 — Email request
If you've lost access to the account or prefer email:
Email privacy@billsense.app from the address associated with your BillSense account. Subject: "Delete my account".
We delete your account within 30 days of receiving your request, and confirm by reply.
What gets deleted
- Account — your email and password hash, removed immediately.
- Homes, devices, usage logs, automation rules — all deleted.
- Subscription — if you have an active Pro subscription, it's cancelled at the end of the current billing period (no refunds for partial periods unless required by your local consumer-protection laws).
- Analytics events — deleted.
- Backups — purged within 35 days (we keep 35-day rolling DB backups for disaster recovery; deletion requests propagate through these on the next cycle).
What we keep (and why)
- Anonymous, aggregated usage data — already de-identified, can't be linked back to you. Used for service improvement.
- Financial records — if you've made a paid purchase, we retain billing records as required by tax and accounting laws (typically 7 years), but no personal data beyond what those records require.
